Why free antivirus is enough for most households

We do not sell antivirus subscriptions, so here is the honest version: the protection already on your computer is good, and the paid suites often make things worse.

What is already installed

Windows Security is built into Windows, updates itself, and scores well against paid competitors in independent testing. It does not slow the machine down or interrupt you with upgrade offers.

For a household that browses, banks, emails, and streams, that is genuinely sufficient.

Why we remove paid suites so often

Bundled trial software is a frequent cause of the slowdowns and pop-ups people bring to us. Some of it is difficult to uninstall by design, and some of it flags harmless files just to look busy.

The habits that matter more

No software replaces these.

  • Install operating system and browser updates promptly
  • Never call a phone number that appears in a warning
  • Use unique passwords for email and banking
  • Keep a backup, which defeats ransomware outright

Think something got through? A free diagnostic will tell you whether the machine is actually infected or just cluttered.
